FITREC is designed to provide fitness professionals with a third party endorsement they can use to help further their industry career.
As well as professional development, FITREC recognition will take into account time in industry and references from employers, co-workers and clients.
One of the first questions I’ve been asked since we launched FITREC is ‘Are you competing with Fitness Australia and Physical Activity Australia?’
The short answer is ‘yes’. [for more a more recent post on ‘Why FITREC’, head here.]
Among the services provided via FITREC are…
INSURANCE FOR INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
This is an increasing requirement among Personal Trainers. More and more facilities are operating with a rental / contract model and therefore require Trainers that have their own insurance. There are already a variety of places that professionals can secure insurance beyond governing bodies and so it was no great leap for us to provide the same service (albeit with a whopping $20M Public Liability – Suitable for any council parkland).
FITREC RECOGNITION
Did you know that employers spend, on average, as little as six seconds scanning each CV. If what they’re looking for is not present, they’ll move on to the next one. With a FITREC badge you can grab the employers attention immediately. It represents, after all, a respected third party endorsement.
RECOGNITION OF ALL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES
As our program is employment focused, we’re approaching course recognition from a different angle – from the perspective of ‘value to an employer’. In addition, instead of allocating CEC or PDP style recognition, courses will be assigned a level of A, B, or C – where (loosely) LEVEL A represents significant learning and assessment, LEVEL B consolidates existing skills/knowledge and LEVEL C represents less formal professional development opportunities. Registration will require one LEVEL A or two LEVEL B within a 12 month period.
DIFFERENTIATION
With more than 82,000 professionals in our system, hundreds of which are applying for jobs and promoting themselves to employers every day, it can be hard to be heard above the noise. A key benefit of our FITREC program is the ability to position yourself as a professional that is committed to industry development.
CV TUNE UP
Applying for jobs is not intuitive. We’ve seen too many great candidates hide the details that matter among irrelevant information. If you want to increase your chance of getting the job you want, get some professional help – A CV tune up is part of our FITREC program.
UNLIMITED PROMOTION TO EMPLOYERS
Applying for jobs is not the only way to get ahead. Many employers are regularly connecting with professionals that we are promoting BEFORE they decide to advertise a job (if they ever do). As a FITREC candidate, you’ll be promoted to employers whenever required. You can set this up yourself or simply email a request for us to activate it on your behalf.
If you have a desire to see your time, professional development and referrals in industry recognised, if you want your passion and commitment recognised, then FITREC is for you.
If you’re already registered with HealthyPeople and want to include FITREC recognition, you can do so via your ‘Update Registration’ page.
