What the Hell is MetaFit?


Following on from our successful article on ‘What the Hell is Nordic Walking?‘ here’s some insight into a new, equipment free, group exercise session called Metafit.

With origins in the UK, Metafit was introduced to Australia by Daniel Wilson (I’ve known Daniel for years – his extensive industry experience includes Club Management, Sales Management and Personal Training, both here and abroad).

In a relatively short space of time Metafit has become a staple for many Trainers. In fact, some have based their whole business around it (check out THE HIIT MUM in the West of Melbourne).

So what is Metafit?

“Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit it combines traditional body-weight exercises with the latest interval and Tabata techniques to set the metabolism on fire!”

In short, it’s high intensity sessions that use large muscle group exercises. And it’s all over in 30 minutes.

What’s the appeal for Personal Trainers?

It’s a simple and effective tool for fitness professionals looking for a workout that delivers big results and increases client retention and revenue. The Metafit workout can be taught as a studio class, small group or as a one to one/personal training session. It also helps that the trademarked, branded media is now more easily recognised among the general public. In addition…

  • No Equipment is required
  • There are no ongoing fees
  • There is no choreography to learn
  • It can be run anywhere, inside or out
  • Works beautifully for Bootcamps, groups or 1 on 1’s
  • Workouts require minimum planning, deliver results and are done in 30mins

For those that become certified coaches, there are also 5 CEC points in it for you.

Each month, qualified instructors receive an easy to download 25 minute, branded workout track with all commands and work / rest intervals uploaded.

Daniel stresses that  Metafit is not a home workout, nor is it available on DVD. It is a class taught, in person, by qualified coaches.

So what is included in the one day Metafit coaching course?

Mobilisation; Activation and dynamic warm ups; Metabolic effects and Fat burning; Busting the myths – Core not Abs; Interval and Tabata techniques; Bodyweight training progressions/regressions; Teaching the Metafit 30 minute workout.

And then there’s the monthly track downloads / marketing and the 5 CEC points.

To my mind, Metafit certification provides fitness professionals with easy way to add an additional, easily marketable, usable anywhere, service to their product suite. The last time we saw anything like this, it became a household name in moments (hello, Zumba!).
